Window shutters in Newcastle
A shutter is engineered window hardware, not a soft furnishing. We specify each window on its own terms: the material for its exposure, the louvre for its light, the tilt for its era. Made to measure, supplied and installed.
89 mm louvre
tilt 35°
Four types. One house fluent in all of them.
Most places sell you the shutter they make. We start from the window: indoors or out, salt air or sheltered, sash or stacker. Then we spec the type that suits it, and tell you why.
Plantation
Interior timber and PVC. Louvre widths, tilt and frames chosen room by room.
Basswood in the front rooms; PVC where the steam is. Specify plantation TYPE 02Aluminium
Powder-coated, for balconies, alfresco openings and the salt band.
Two streets from the break? This one. Specify aluminium TYPE 03Roller
Security, storm and shade in one curtain. Homes and small commercial.
When the answer has to close and lock. Specify roller TYPE 04Motorised
Remote, app or schedule. For high, wide and hard-to-reach openings.
Past arm's reach, motorise it. Specify motorisedThe same window gets a different answer at Merewether than at Fletcher.
The salt band
Merewether, Bar Beach, Stockton, Newcastle East. Salt air pits cheap fittings and sulks timber.
Powder-coated aluminium outside; PVC with reinforced louvres in.
The older streets
Cooks Hill, The Hill, Hamilton, New Lambton. Double-hung sashes, high ceilings, joinery worth matching.
Basswood, front tilt, Z-frames that respect the architrave.
The new west
Fletcher, Cameron Park. Fresh window schedules, wide openings, whole homes fitted out in one go.
Hidden tilt, wide blades, motorised where the glass runs high.
And everywhere: wet areas take PVC, whatever the postcode. How we choose by exposure.
The Window Schedule
Draft a schedule for your own home. Window by window.
Add each window: the room, indoors or out, how close you are to the water, what matters most. You get a spec verdict per window, drawn up the way we would draw it, ready to bring to your free measure.

Guidance, not a quote. Every figure gets checked on site.
Measured at your place. Made for each opening. Installed square.
Free in-home measure
A specialist measures every opening and talks through material, louvre width and tilt for each room. You get a written quote. No obligation.
Made to measure
Each panel is made to its own window's figures. Because every window is bespoke, the quote is bespoke too: there is no price list, and nothing is made without the on-site measure.
Professional install
Fitted plumb and square, tilt checked on every panel, and the working of each room's shutters walked through before we leave.
The city, window by window.
Merewether
Salt air, hard eastern light, and openings that face the weather. Material choice does the heavy lifting here.
Shutters in Merewether
Cooks Hill
Terraces and double-hung sashes. Shutters that sit with the joinery instead of on top of it.
Shutters in Cooks Hill
Fletcher
New window schedules, big glass, whole-home fit-outs ordered once and done properly.

How much do plantation shutters cost in Newcastle?
Every window is bespoke, so we quote per home, not per price list. The honest drivers are the number of openings, their sizes, the material (PVC, basswood or aluminium) and the frame each reveal needs. The measure and the quote are free and written, so you can compare it calmly.
Which material should I pick near the beach?
Aluminium outside, PVC or reinforced-louvre PVC inside.
Within the salt band, powder-coated aluminium takes the spray and the southerlies. Indoors, PVC holds straight where timber can sulk. Further inland, basswood is back on the table.
Do you do just one window, or only whole homes?
Both. A single ensuite window gets the same measure and the same care as a whole new-build schedule. Plenty of homes start with one room and come back for the rest.
